New Britain Oils in the UK
Development of the a six-acre site near Regent Road, Bootle site in Liverpool has already begun. The refining facility will have a production capacity of approximately 170,000 metric tonnes of refined palm oil per annum. New Britain Oils will be working exclusively with SRG to fill the 28 new local jobs whilst there is also potential for further jobs should the facility expand. Accordingly, following completion of the facility, New Britain Oils expects to have an aggregate refining capacity sufficient for a large majority of its anticipated CPO production – currently only about one third of CPO production is refined by the Company.
Nick Thomson, CEO of NBPOL commented:
“The establishment of the Company’s own integrated palm oil processing facility in the UK will strengthen New Britain Palm Oil’s position at the higher value-added end of the supply chain and put us closer to our key customers in the UK and wider EU. The UK facility will also ensure that NBPOL will be the first palm oil producers to offer customers fully traceable, sustainable, ethically produced palm oil product. We believe that our dedicated supply chain should ensure that NBPOL will be able to supply palm oil that is traceable from “palm to plate”, giving manufacturers and consumers total confidence in their product.”
Alan Chaytor, Executive Director of NBPOL, added:
“We decided on Liverpool because the physical location is ideal, there is the deep water facility here which is ideal for our tankers and the tank storage capacity is also a major advantage. Doing business here has been a very smooth and efficient process. The Merseyside site also offers excellent transport links to our major customers, like food producers, across the north of the country.”
SRG will be providing a managed service covering all of New Britain Oils' recruitment needs for the Liverpool site from searching for production technicians to screening engineering supervisors.
