SRG helps recruit Teachers

Mon 11 May 2009

Science recruitment experts SRG have been assisting the UK Government attract and recruit the next generation of Science Teachers.  An e-mailing campaign has been sent to over 9,000 candidates registered on the SRG database on behalf of the Teacher Development Agency (TDA), the Government agency responsible for attracting candidates into the teaching profession.

The e-mail campaign is part of the re-launched "Turn your Talent Teaching" program that has featured prominently in TV, radio and press advertising as well as online during March and April 2009.

One of the key target skill areas for the TDA is Science Teachers – particularly Chemistry and Physics – and they want to attract experienced scientists from industry who would be able to bring their experiences to life in the classroom.  They needed “opted in” e-mail records of qualified scientists and, after undertaking internet research, they identified www.srg.co.uk as one of the leading career websites for UK scientists.

On  21 April  2009, 9,200 candidates received an e-mailshot designed by the TDA that tied in with the “Turn your Talent to Teaching” campaign and featured a clever animated sequence that showed schoolchildren being amazed by a chemistry experiment (see below).

To date more than 400 candidates have visited the TDA's teacher registration page and it is hoped that many of the registrations will result in the recruitment and training of many experienced scientists to become the inspirational science teachers of the future.

The campaign also underlines that SRG is the premier source for scientists in the UK.
