Our client is looking for an experienced electrophysiologist to work for them in Sandwich, Kent.
This role is a 12 month contract.
Key qualifications & Skills:
The ideal candidate will be educated to PhD level or equivalent and experienced at design and performing patch clamp, calcium/voltage imaging and other electrophysiological recordings.
They will be competent at following guidelines and protocols and proficient at operation and routine maintenance of relevant laboratory equipment.
The candidate shoule be able to prosecute multiple projects / techniques simultaneously, and should be adept at capturing key concepts around specific studies in a fast-paced research environment.
Can interpret data from routine analysis or novel exploration and will show excellent written literacy/numeracy skills. The candidate will be able to communicate well to individuals and teams on an ongoing basis.
Computer literacy and experience of data capture systems (such as pClamp) is essential.
Must show good presentation skills and be a good team player, both in meetings and in the hands-on laboratory setting.
The candidate will also be able to work autonomously as necessary and be highly motivated and pro-active to seek information from appropriate sources for experimental design, project progression and troubleshooting.
Other responsibilities include adhering to advanced safety procedures/ containment protocols etc. Laboratory experience of tissue culture techniques and acute tissue preparations will be advantageous, as would knowledge of the central nervous system.
Minimum Experience/Qualifications:-
BSc/MSc or equivalent + placement year or post grad experience
Hands-on experience of electrophysiology essential
Must be dynamic to move between multiple projects simultaneously.
